I'm not able to compile projects having dependency on c++ headers such as
new.h, iostream.

This is actually a bug in gobohide that affected the last snapshot. Just
run 'gobohide -f' and the GCC files will be unhidden and it will work
again. This will be fixed in the next snapshot, thanks for the bug report.
