I had thought about it, and I may very well do in the future.

I always thought it was strange that the original Manager didn't use it.

I took a look at Freshen but I couldn't get it to work.

I also had a look at other commands like ShowPackages and GetAvailable,
which I originally used as the backend for GMan.

It worked alright for a little while (although it was total crack!) that is,

until the package list became an hour old and Scripts decided it had to be
updated, then everything just fell apart, It totally killed GMan.

So what I do now is i parse the .conf files for various scripts and maintain
my own package list separate from the rest of the Scripts, although I am
updating the descriptions the same way the other scripts do.

Its only updated when you click the "Refresh" button, which suits me better
as my internet connection is about as stable as a one legged donkey.

So you can see there will be a few issues in the first release (candidate)
:P

PS:

GMan reveals just how many packages dont have a description,
is there some sort of API I could hook into to let users submit one?

That would be killer.
