Thanks!  This looks closer than my old FireWeb recipe, but it seems
to want half of Gnome installed.  Is that necessary?

One problem with me building binaries, actually: I'm still on an old
Glibc.  The last time I tried to upgrade, I ended up using sash to
rescue my system.  Do we have a neat glibc transition method, or
should I go dissecting other distributions to see how they do it?
