As far as I know, there's already support for that on CVS. However, I'm not 
sure about which pieces were merged already.

Not really.. we only rely on config.log generated by autoconf-based apps (at 
least for now). It's a good feature to implement, though.

Are you running Compile 1.4.0? If so, please fetch the latest CVS snapshots, 
which fixes that (or wait for a new Compile/Scripts release, which I'm 
going to provide and announce today).
