Store files in sensible locations instead? Just kidding... I know
there's better applications for locate than just finding lost
documents. I just don't find myself needing to use locate, well...
ever.
I do like the idea of having a cron built-in though. I'd use it to
schedule backups to happen overnight, or to set downloads to start
after I'm asleep. I tried to install one in Gobo but was boggled by
the number of (different?) crons. Surely for basic desktop use there
is no major difference between them? I think for my purposes as a
casual desktop user it'd be better if there was one that came with the
distro with a good default setup (maybe ensure that kcron works with
it for users who choose KDE). That way, this list would only have to
field questions about one daemon, and there would be a reasonable
expectation of how it works if you want to suggest to someone that
they add a cron entry on their Gobo system. Advanced users of course
can do what they do now: install their own from a recipe or source.
Thanks for soliciting feedback about this!
