I would see only Scripts/Compile/GCC/kernel as essentials. I'm not
aware of the current state of Manager, but it might be worth upgrading
as well.
As for Glibc, I would say it's better to keep the one you have already
installed, unless you're really looking for adventure and head aches
:-)
