Partly true.
The biggest issue is that since a while back noone is allowed to use the
name without the logo and as the logo isn't completly free Debian can't
use it (http://www.debian.org/social_contract). At the same time it
wouldn't be possible for Debian to accept a permission to redistribute
Firefox as their Free Software Guidance §8 reads that no license can be
Debian specific. It has to be transferable downstreams.
There was also the issue with the patches, but it was not that serious
compared to the above. We, otoh, don't have the abovve issues, just the
need to get our patches approved (which shouldn't be hard as the only real
patch is taken from Red Hat, which has an approval). Our problem is that I
have tried to get this approval quite some time now, without getting any
responce from Mozilla.
