Having now implemented your fix however I have to report that I encountered the
same problems as Viola!
During boot the normal graphical 'GOBOLINUX' and progress bar displayed the
character @ in place of the filled block! Also Udev did not start which is why
there is no sound or network
I get into KDE, but cannot do much!
Incidently I had to do the fix twice because your ln commands had the source and
destination filenames reversed and being unfamiliar with the command line tools
I did not spot it!
Is it a coincidence that that both the 2.6.20.4 kernel and System.map are
exactly the same size as the 2.6.17 versions that were already in
/System/Kernel/Boot??
What do I do now?
One though is as I now have access is to see if I can symlink Glibc back to its
previos version, then use the Live CD to resymlink the kernel & map 2.6.17 and
reboot
Hopefully I will then be back to where I was and I can then use your fixed
package to move forward!
What do you think??
