uname -r returned 2.6.20.4-Gobo

Was empty

Yes was present

ran depmod ae and rebooted
Modules now loaded so now have network and sound back!
still got udev failed to start in boot

Not sure if it has really changed, but the character displayed now is
not @, but ? in a coloured box
Maybe I got it wrong before! Old eyes etc etc etc
Replying to this in THunderbird within Gobo so am moving on, but there
still seems to be issues
aprt from udev in boot starting a root terminal gives 'zsh: segmentation
problem' message after entering password, but does seem to work after that
Also one funny thing there is a circular reference as
/System/Kernel/Modules/2.6.20.4-Gobo/2.6.20.4-Gobo is a link to itself!
This circular reference is also in 2.6.17.11 so may be linked (sic) to
this problem
Is there a log I can send that will show any udev problems?
I still do not have a clean system so am I better of re-installing and
starting again now you have fixed the kernel package! I am quite happy
to soldier on with suggested fixes if it is helping with debugging. Also
I am learning things myself!!!
Obviously havnt tried to do anything constructive yet so dont know how
much is working, but kde, thunderbird, sound, network, root Konsole
(apart from the zsh glitch) seem to be ok
