I don't use it. I did give it a try shortly after I installed, and it
looked pretty slick. If it really doesn't do anything about
dependencies at all, those checkboxes are a bug. I haven't got it with
me to check the code, but that isn't my recollection of how it ran. I
don't think it specifically checks their versions, though.

However, I did write a piece of software that does exactly what you
want to do, made a package especially for you, and recommended it to
you.

Daily? Nah. It certainly shouldn't break things, though, or it should
at least warn you before it possibly does. The "no system updates"
thing really needs to be red-flagged to everybody.
