I am not well up on linux permissions, so dont know what this means, 
however I have had no problems fetching recipes!

I suspect this myself as well, if you recall I have had no end of 
problems since I installed Glibc without the kernel upgrade all sorts of 
wierd and wonderful things were done to recover the system which 
eventually did bring me back to a working system, BUT!

I think I still have a problem with Udev during startup since installing 
2.6.20.4 and the state of a lot of my folders may not be as they should

I am considering starting again, but that will mean losing this EMail 
record amongst other things unless I can save my Thunderbird profile and 
restore it, but the Profile Manager that permits this is in the Windows 
version, but not so far as I can see in the Linux releases
