Yes as you note below I am running Compile in a root shell.

Xorg 7.2 was installed in a previous step in the Freshen run that it the 
Compile config failure
It is there, but not symlinked would freshen have backed it out?

Yes thats very true, my bad!! I used to get in lots of trouble over that 
when I was working! I tend to be a bit abrupt and not express myself 
clearly and often that is taken the wrong way!
