It seems to be related to the way CheckDependencies (python) invokes
ScriptFunctions (bash) code. I've added '/bin/bash -c' in two popen
calls, this may fix you problem. Can you try the patch?

I still need to make sure it does not break the base functionality, so
I'm not committing it o CVS yet.
