Indeed it is. Beryl development has stopped, I believe. Try out Compiz
Fusion -- it has the best of both worlds. Smooth wobbly windows (from
Compiz, were always laggy on Beryl), and the ridiculously awesome
special effects (from Beryl).

Unfortuately, Compiz Fusion does not support a gconf backend, which I
sorely miss.
