Just ensure that you have the cupsd daemon loaded. Another little
thing: edit /System/Settings/cups/cupsd.conf and ensure that the
following line is commented:
# Listen /Programs/CUPS/Variable/run/cups/cups.sock

After running cupsd, you need to configure your printer. I usually do
that through CUPS' interface at http://localhost:631.
