Hi all!
Sorry to bother you with this possibly lame issue, but I think I've got a
real showstopper with Gobolinux 013 release (for me, of course).
I've searched the mailing-lists, forums, google etc. trying to find any
consistent solution to my problem but I failed. And it seems that Gobo
knowledge base is down.
So my last best chance must be here. The problem is as follows:
My primary OS is WinXP. When I try to install Gobolinux (with all due extra
partitioning) everything seems to proceed well, up until I reboot. Then
nothing happens - ntloader boots XP as usual. Ok, some googling reveals that
there is a kind of bug in Gobo install procedure that sometimes prevents
Grub from writing over MBR. No problem - booting from livecd and installing
grub manually helps to fix this. Voila! Grub splash screen loads and leaves
me all the default choices. However, when I choose any of them but WinXP -
"error 17... blah-blah" string shows. The end.
Root partition was already Ext3 - formatting it to ReiserFS didn't help
either.
Some more googling pointed out the possibility that this issue is of concern
due to some kernel module not loading on startup (smth for SATA controller
namely). What do you think?
My mobo is nForce4-based and my hdd is native SATA. However, installing
ArchLinux, Fedora or Ubuntu posed not a slightest problem with this config,
so it must be something with Gobolinux's install procedure.
Can anyone help me with this? Thnx, ppl.
P.S. Does anyone know when 014 is expected? :)
