Lucas,

I had already seen that page and none of the comments there seems to relate 
to my problem!
I tried both the command entries shown for the smp problem without any 
success!

The result is the same:

I get

Loading /isolinux/kernel ................................................
Loading initrd..

Then another short line which is on screen for too short a time to read then 
the screen goes blank and the system reboots!

Any ideas?

The machines has a very slow cpu, a 4GB hard drive which is currently 
partitioned for a linux build, but unformatted and 32 MB memory!

It does boot from other livecd's such has PCLinuxOS, Freespire Knoppix and 
Kubuntu albeit very slowly and I can install those os's! I have also 
installed Mepis and Xandros from their dowloaded CD's, but just repeatedly 
reboots with gobolinux
