I don't have any good solution for this unfortunatly, but there are some
things you can try to do to fix it. What does 'grep svg
/Programs/GTK+/Settings/gtk-2.0/*' give? It should return some reference
to svg_loader.so.

Should be sufficient, unless you also have modules in python2.4. Then you
have to add the corresponding paths for that directory as well.
