[gobolinux-users] cannot shutdown the machine

[Hi There]

Got HAL 0.5.8.3.1-r3 running.
Had to downgrade back to shadow 4.0.17 (something must
have required the broken 4.0.18.1 when upgrading).
Created haldameon user, but hald wouldn't stay
running, so tried:

/Programs/Shadow/Current/sbin]lshal
error: dbus_bus_get:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.FileNotFound: Failed to
connect to socket
/System/Variable/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such
file or directory
root at homecomputer
/Programs/Shadow/Current/sbin]dbus-daemon --system
Failed to start message bus: Could not get UID and GID
for username "messagebus"

Looks like the DBus recipe doesn't add a messagebus
user. Added messagebus user, now dbus-daemon runs ok,
and so does hald.

Shutdown and restart work from KDE!
