Actually, I have been doing the same, i.e. recipes and binaries for xfce
4.4.0. Everything works well, except for compiling thunar 0.8.x. So I am
looking forward to your solution. The xfce.org website contains  a
suggested build order for the packages, so you might have a look at it.

Also, compiling of orage went well. starting orage though resulted in
error messages. Lets compare notes when you get around to compiling xfce
4.4.0
