I'm interested in what you mean by a "broken broadcom-based wifi
router"? It might explain some weirdness I'm experiencing. My setup
is: An Atheros AR5418 using ndiswrapper connecting to a linksys wrt54
running openwrt. wpa_supplicant get stuck in the "scanning" state.
This causes dhcpcd to timeout and therefore the network never gets
setup. As a work around, I'm using ifplugd to wait for the link beat
to run dhcpcd. This helps a little but sometimes it remains stuck in
scanning. I also dislike adding ifplugd as dep for wpa.
PS. my macbook is alive again. Needed to pull battery and power for a
few mins to reset.
