It no longer exists. It was a kernel hack which can be replaced
nowadays with any mature boot splash. There were some users testing
graphical boot splash alternatives that could probably guide you
better on which solution to use and on its configuration. Searching
the list archives by "boot splash" might return some interesting posts
in this subject.
