Debates flow back and forth.  Google Groups was suggested, had a
little support, had some opposition.  In many ways its a kludge that
no one likes (for our purposes).

Avatars are nice and all but really.  Who cares?  Other issues are
much more important.

Thats administration not moderation.  Gmane has NO admin interface.
It just ties into existing mailing lists.

Gmane has an NNTP interface.  This series of nit picking isn't helping.

Gmane ties into existing infrastructure.

In order to implement a forum we need to do it the right way.  That
means giving users on the forum a good experience.  If we can't do
that it does more harm than good.
