  To be honest, I don't understand what the appeal is of a Wiki that
allows unregistered users to edit articles.  A casual reader will maybe
correct a spelling mistake or two.  Anyone with anything more to change
than that will probably be more than marginally interested in the
subject and wouldn't mind registering.  Personally, I like the idea of
having my signature on an article anyway.  If someone wants to remain
anonymous, you've got to ask what they're hiding for.  (I'm not saying
there aren't legitimate reasons, but they're few and far between, and
have other solutions.)

  In that case, you bar the account.  To do something like you're
suggesting, the spammer would have to register a new account manually
every time.  They'd soon lose interest.
