well, even with libidn in place, and doing multiple recompiles of kde-network 
(hte package that kopete is now part of) i didnt get kopete to show any signs 
of supporting jabber.

but interestingly someone on irc showed me that he had jabber in the list of 
supported protocols. but didnt recall if this was because he had recompiled 
the package or if he was using the precompiled one.

and for the record, im using the non-precompiled as i had to compile it to get 
the smb ioslave going.
