okay, now (with dbus 1.1) running Xorg with twm works ... except that 
Ctrl-Alt-Del, which should exit X, merely freezes the cursor/display 
(and possibly the system).  XMonad keybinding ctrl-shift-return isn't 
working for me (I suppose I could try recompiling xmonad with new xorg 
symlinked...).  Nevertheless I can move the mouse cursor, when using 
xmonad as window manager, until I hit ctrl-alt-del, which freezes again.
