I use Rootless extensively on Ubuntu. I was always able to work
around the dash/bash problems by changing /bin/sh to point to
/bin/bash. Additionally, the Gobo dev team considers these problems
with dash to be bugs in the Gobo tools, and has been fixing dash
related issues when they are reported. It may be that all the dash
issues are now fixed. I cannot say for sure as I have not tested
Rootless with dash in a while.

I'd say: Yes, mostly. There are a few recipes that assume Compile
will be run as root. One example (last I checked) was Postfix. There
are probably a few others, too. But most recipes work fine on
Rootless. I have also come across several Recipes that use hardcoded
paths like /System instead of $goboPrefix/System. But these are
pretty easy to fix when you find them.

I'd say: No, with a few exceptions, such as Compile, Scripts, Atool.
But I almost always Compile.

I'd say: Yes, mostly. It's hard to figure out what all the (Gobo
specific) Dependencies should be. But that can always be fixed later
on by someone who actually is running GoboLinux.

Gobo Rootless is a major time saver for compiling and installing
software from source code on your favorite Linux distribution.
