Same here. I don't think I get those specific messages (or any visible
errors at all, come to think of it), but most HAL-related things
didn't work, and the daemon appeared to have died silently at some
points. It's worth noting though that part of the problem seems to be
the KDE packages themselves; rewinding HAL alone didn't fix the
problem.

For the record, here's how I got everything working again (after much
experimentation, this is abbreviated):
1) DisableProgram HAL 0.5.10 && SymlinkProgram HAL 0.5.9.1
2) DisableProgram HAL-Info 20071011 && SymlinkProgram HAL-Info 20070618
3) /Programs/HAL/Current/libexec/hald-generate-fdi-cache
4) cd /Programs ; for x in KDE-* ; [ -e $x/3.5.8 ] && DisableProgram
$x 3.5.8 && SymlinkProgram $x 3.5.7

It was necessary to DisableProgram rather than just re-symlinking.
