Actually the answer should be "yes", as the UTF-8 patches were
actually submitted and merged with the mainline kernel by its creator
some months ago. However, there's still work to be done in the kernel
land in order to have a full UTF-8 support. Please contact the author
of this work directly (Egmont Koblinger) if you want to have further
information and/or want to help him in this subject.
